A new year is usually a time for optimism and there are numerous reasons to be positive about what we’re seeing in the world of small businesses as we look ahead to 2014. For example, almost six of 10 small business owners say they are either growing their businesses or expect growth opportunities, according to the National Small Business Association’s 2013 Mid-Year Economic Report.
However, small business owners still have concerns, particularly when it comes to finding new customers. Our survey found that this is actually small business owners’ biggest professional worry . Considering that’s the case, it was surprising, for example, that our survey results showed that one in four small business owners reported that they don’t allot any money for marketing and just over half spend less than $500 a month on marketing. Furthermore, even though 59% of consumers visit a business’ website when conducting a mobile search, nine out of 10 small business owners do not have a mobile optimized website.
